Codes of Conduct

Summary

The ✕ Roads Foundation Consortium requires that all members do their best to contribute to a safe, fun and welcoming environment at ✕ Roads Fur Con ("the convention") and ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación ("the festival", collectively "✕RFC", "the event"). All attendees, vendors, panelists, film festival participants, and anyone else associated or affiliated with the event are expected to adhere to their respective Code of Conduct.

✕RFC is an all-ages event. While it is possible some panels or events associated with the convention and/or the festival may be 18+, ✕RFC itself is, at most, a PG-13 event, and is intended to be a safe space for those within the furry community. Please be sure the way you present yourself and your actions are suitable.

Major disruptions to the safety of the environment may result in the loss of membership privileges, removal from events, and suspension of future participation. If you see or experience violations of the Code of Conduct, please report them to the Convention Operations ("Con Ops") office during the convention.

Anyone who accepts a ✕RFC badge in any capacity agrees to indemnify and hold harmless ✕RFC from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of any individual’s activities at ✕RFC, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence by or on the part of ✕RFC. As a condition of registration, everyone attending ✕RFC is required to abide by the rules set forth in this document for the entire duration of their stay.

General Information

✕ Roads Fur Con ("the convention") and ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación ("the festival", collectively "✕RFC", "the event") are collectively an event organized and hosted by The ✕ Roads Foundation Consortium ("✕RFC", "the Consortium"), a not-for-profit organization presently being organized in the state of New Mexico.

The goal of ✕RFC is to enable our attendees to have the best time possible, to unite and highlight the furry communities throughout North America, particularly within the Borderlands region of southern New Mexico, west Texas, and northern Chihuahua, as well as to showcase the incredible talents present in independent animation, particularly that from within the furry community. We seek to educate both the furry community and the general public about incredible opportunities and talent within the Borderlands region, as well as the meaning and intent of the furry community.

✕RFC strives to maintain professionalism at all times.

Consideration for Others

We hope that our community will put their best foot forward so all attendees may enjoy their time at ✕RFC. Please consider how your actions might affect others, and how they might reflect on the convention as a whole. Activities or behavior you may find acceptable may not be acceptable to others. If the convention becomes aware of any of our attendees engaging in illegal activities, we will be forced to inform the proper authorities.

Intentional and/or malicious interference with any equipment or property of the convention, venues, or others, is strictly prohibited. This includes any equipment or property that violates other Code items herein. Engaging in such activities may result in your removal from the event and termination of membership. If you believe an item of equipment or property is in violation one of the other Code items herein, please bring it to the attention of convention staff.

When in public spaces, participants may not wear clothing which is overly revealing or inappropriate to the atmosphere of the event. Any and all attire worn must conform to the rules set forth by the space in which you occupy, at a minimum.

Photography and Videography

Video and sound recording may be conducted by anyone, for any purpose, without your permission or consent while in public. Within spaces controlled by the event, video and sound recording may be done by any of our attendees and staff, provided they are unobtrusive and respectful. We ask anyone recording individuals to please ask before recording. If someone asks or otherwise indicates their desire to not be recorded, please respect their rights and do not record them.

Attendees should be aware that footage gathered by volunteers in public areas of the convention, including events and panels, may be used in a highlights reel and that attendees may appear in the video without compensation. ✕RFC will require a release only for footage that is obtained in areas that are not fully public (i.e., private functions and personal interviews). These rules apply to all attendees. All members of the press and volunteers will conform to ✕RFC’s Media Policy, so we encourage attendees to become familiar with those rules as well.

Wearable Recording Devices

No wearable recording devices are permitted in any ✕RFC space. The only exception to this rule is police body cameras used to insure they themselves are performing their duties, and only while said officer is on duty. Meta Glasses, Google Glass, or any other wearable recording devices that can be used to covertly record video of individuals without their knowledge will not be tolerated, and anyone found wearing such devices in any ✕RFC space will be asked to leave. Refusal to leave is grounds for immediate revocation of your badge, expulsion from the event, and potentially a permanent ban from future events. This policy exists to insure our attendees feel safe in our spaces, and that no anti-recording laws are broken by attendees within our theater venues.

Safety

The safety of our attendees is of utmost importance to us. Matters of safety are generally handled by our security team and executive staff. Any issues of safety should be brought to our security or Con Ops. Our security or executive staff may ask you to stop an activity that is deemed unsafe, or else may ask you to take it to a private room. For your safety, we ask any such request to be complied with immediately. If you feel that the request has not been fair or should be reconsidered for some reason, you may bring this up at a later time with the convention chair or vice-chair but please comply at the moment.

Weapons

Firearms, Firearm Replicas, and Firearm Lookalikes

No firearms, replicas, or lookalikes of any kind are permitted within any of our venues. This includes, but is not limited to, air-powered pistols and rifles, foam replicas, toys like NERF guns, and statues or figurines. Exceptions may be made only for on-duty, duly appointed law enforcement officers by prior arrangement with convention management.

Non-Firearms

No weapons of any kind, functional or non-functional (see below for prop exceptions), are permitted within any of our venues. Open or concealed carry of any weapon, or any item that can easily be mistaken for a weapon, is not permitted.

Props and Toys

Non-functioning, non-firearm prop weapon replicas are permitted as part of a costume, only during specified costume events, and only at the discretion of event staff. Any weapon prop to be used in such a manner must be peace-bonded. Peace-bonding will be performed by our security staff, to be specified at a later date. Weapons that utilize projectiles of any kind, i.e. NERF guns or air-powered pistols and rifles, water guns, silly string, or lasers, are prohibited at all times.

Costumes and Clothing

Costumes and attire of all designs and materials are welcome, provided that they are displayed in a manner appropriate for all ages. We ask that you keep attire reasonably inoffensive. No "anatomically correct" costume may be shown in public areas. Collars, leashes, pup-hoods, and sled-dog like harnesses may be worn either with costumes or discreetly with your normal street clothing; overt and blatant displays of bondage/BDSM may result in you being asked to leave public event space. Leashes must not present a tripping or other safety hazard to the wearer or anyone else, and may only be held by the wearer.

Attire that is genuine or gives the appearance of military or law enforcement attire is not permitted at ✕RFC, with the exception of active, retired, or honorably separated veterans who may wear their duty or dress uniforms.

Patches, symbols, insignia, etc. associated with Hate groups (such as armbands, flags, swastikas, fursuits incorporating these elements in whole or in part) will not be tolerated. If these are found on your person, you will be removed from the event immediately, your registration terminated, and will be banned from future events. This is non-negotiable.

Attire that reveals, displays, features, or models genitalia, in whole or in part, is not permitted.

Any culturally insensitive attire, art, or props, including but not limited to those that depict racial stereotypes, is not permitted.

✕RFC executive staff have the final say in what attire and behavior is appropriate within the event. Any dispute may be brought to Con Ops, to be brought to their attention. If there are any questions about these rules, please contact us at contact@xrfc.org.

Hate Speech

Hate speech, and any attire and imagery associated with hate speech, are not welcome at ✕RFC. This includes, but is not limited to, anything hateful toward a group of people for their race, nationality, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Participating in hate speech or displaying associated attire or imagery is grounds for immediate expulsion from the event and a permanent ban from future events.

Harassment

"No" means no. "Stop" means stop. Harassment is any behavior that intentionally annoys or alarms another person. Unintentional or misinterpreted behaviors may also cause feelings of harassment. If you are being harassed, immediately bring it to the attention of convention staff. Offenders may lose their badges and the matter may be referred to the proper law enforcement authorities.

Assault

Assault of any kind is not tolerated at ✕RFC. Offenders may lose their badges and the matter may be referred to the proper law enforcement authorities.

Online Behavior

Whether online or in person, your behavior is a reflection of you. We ask that you conduct yourself appropriately. Online spaces are provided as an easy space for those interested in ✕RFC to be able to discuss the event and any plans in a safe, respectful manner. This is a privilege, not a right. Any behavior deemed inappropriate may result in your removal from those spaces, and repeated offenses may result in the termination of any registration and possible banning from the event.

Any attempts to socially engineer another party through impersonation of a ✕RFC staffer or another furry will not be tolerated.

Film Submissions

Summary

✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación is a furry-oriented animated film festival organized and hosted by The ✕ Roads Foundation Consortium, a not-for-profit organization presently being organized in the state of New Mexico, alongside ✕ Roads Fur Con. This festival exists to showcase the incredible talents present in independent animation, particularly that from within the furry community. We accomplish this by building a cultivated audience with interest in furry media, bringing that audience together for a large scale event, and showing submitted films to that audience. We highlight particular stories and pieces with an awards ceremony at the end of the festival.

General Submission Guidelines

All films must be submitted exclusively through FilmFreeway. By submitting a film to ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación (✕RFC), the submitter certifies that they hold all necessary rights, permissions, and clearances required to authorize festival exhibition and promotional use of the submitted work. Acceptance into the festival constitutes agreement to all terms and conditions outlined below.

Only animated films featuring anthropomorphic characters are eligible for consideration at this time. Non-animated films that feature anthropomorphic characters or else have ties to the furry fandom may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Films must have been completed on or after September 1, 2026.

Screening fees will not be paid under any circumstances.

Accepted feature films must be delivered as either a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) or Apple ProRes file. Accepted short films must be delivered as an Apple ProRes file. Feature film exhibition materials will be returned following the festival. Short film exhibition materials will be permanently deleted after the event. ✕RFC is not responsible for lost, damaged, delayed, or missing DCPs, hard drives, or other physical media.

Films that have previously screened at the ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación are not eligible for resubmission.

Submitting multiple cuts, versions, or edits of the same film will not increase the likelihood of selection and may result in only one version being considered.

All festival decisions, including eligibility determinations, programming selections, scheduling, and awards, are final.

Submission to the ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación constitutes acknowledgment, understanding, and acceptance of these rules and regulations. All terms are non-negotiable.

Student Films

Student submissions must clearly identify and credit the producing educational institution.

Non-English Language Films

Non-English language films must include accurate English subtitles. Non-English language submissions without English subtitles will not be considered.

Promotional Materials

Filmmakers whose films are selected may be asked to provide promotional materials, including a press kit, high-resolution images, a trailer (if available), a synopsis, filmmaker biography, and any additional materials requested by ✕RFC.

Screening

All screening dates, times, and venues are determined solely by ✕RFC and are not subject to negotiation.

Filmmakers, cast members, and authorized representatives are strongly encouraged to attend festival screenings and participate in post-screening Q&A sessions when invited.

Submission grants ✕RFC a non-exclusive license to publicly exhibit the film during the 1st Annual ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación and to use approved excerpts, stills, trailers, titles, and promotional materials for festival publicity and marketing purposes.

Media Policy

Mission Statement

✕ Roads Fur Con and ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación are collectively an event organized and hosted by The ✕ Roads Foundation Consortium, a not-for-profit organization presently being organized in the state of New Mexico. We exist to unite and highlight the furry communities throughout North America, particularly within the Borderlands region of southern New Mexico, west Texas, and northern Chihuahua, as well as to showcase the incredible talents present in independent animation, particularly that from within the furry community. We seek to educate both the furry community and the general public about incredible opportunities and talent within the Borderlands region, as well as the meaning and intent of the furry community.

We accomplish this by hosting a furry convention and animated film festival side-by-side simultaneously, providing a venue and event for charity fursuiting, and engaging the public to elevate local charities and events, both visibly and financially. We highlight local attractions, venues, and businesses through our events, theming, and discussions within our communities.

Summary

✕RFC does not impose a blanket media ban.

✕RFC as an organization does not seek out or invite media facilitators to the annual event as common practice. Media may be invited to ancillary events, for example awards ceremonies or reveal parties.

✕RFC has a responsibility to investigate, report and manage all media related contracts and contacts. The reputation and comfort of our attendees and participants is held in the highest regard when interacting with all forms of media.

Media / Press Requirements

Any media person or body wishing to cover ✕RFC in any way must contact our executive staff no later than one week prior to the beginning of the event. The email address for contact is media@xrfc.org. All press must agree to the following minimum conditions in order to obtain credentials.

Coverage must be limited in time and scope. These intents must be delineated in the press request. Intent to cover of multiple events must be submitted separately. For these purposes, ✕ Roads Fur Con and ✕ Roads Festival de Cine de Animación are considered a single event, for the given calendar year. Any announcement or reveal parties scheduled separately are considered separate events.

All footage obtained at the convention must only be used in regards to the convention itself and must be used as one continuous segment.

✕RFC producers, event managers, and panelists have the right to deny media access to their specific events.

Under no circumstances will the media be allowed to film, photograph, or reproduce anything within the Art Show, Art Auctions, or any film screening. Media wishing to bring photography or videography equipment into theaters for post-screening Q&A sessions or interviews must contact the specific theater venue for permissions.

Policies and Guidelines

✕RFC reserves the right to deny access to any member of the media.

Each request will be considered on a case-by-case basis. ✕RFC's Media Relations team will investigate and determine the media source's credentials, purpose, and requirements. They will communicate all findings and ongoing communications to the event's executive staff, who will make a decision whether to allow media access once information such as the time and scope of coverage has been determined.

If access to the event is granted, members of the media must check in with Convention Operations ("Con Ops") upon arrival at the event and prior to any news-gathering.

Attendee Guidelines

If any attendee of ✕RFC is contacted by a representative of the media and/or press, they should direct the inquiry to ✕RFC Media Relations at media@xrfc.org. All questions or concerns regarding media presence at ✕RFC should also be directed to this email. If you, as a ✕RFC attendee, are approached by a member of the media and/or press, you have the right to say NO. The event will enforce this right. If you witness any member of the media unescorted or without a visible "MEDIA" badge, please contact ✕RFC Convention Operations ("Con Ops") immediately.
